Many people who visit Thailand fall in love with the country, its people, its culture, and most of all, its food, and when you go home, you can have a craving for the deliciously spicy food from the Land of Smiles. Thai food is known globally for being spicy and delicious and often also being healthy for you, and many people want to take the flavours of Thailand home to enjoy it in their country. You can look to fill your suitcase with some things that can help you do this, but there are some items you will not be allowed to take on your plane with you also. Below are some of the things you may wish to consider taking with you in your suitcase so that you can enjoy the authentic taste of Thailand in your home.

Thai Herbs & Spices

Many herbs and spices are used in Thai cooking, which people know worldwide, so they are often easy to get, but some are less common. The primary herbs and spices you see used regularly include:

  • Cinnamon
  • Cumin
  • Coriander – Roots & Seeds
  • Holy Basil
  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Peppercorns
  • Chillies – The Thai Birdseye chilli is best for a truly authentic taste.

You can stock up on dried herbs and spices, or you can also consider getting them at home so you can enjoy your Thai food with an authentic taste. You will have to think about how much space you have in your suitcase and check whether any items are prohibited from being taken through the airports.

Pastes & Sauces

As well as herbs and spices, you may also require different pastes and sauces that are commonly used in Thai cooking. When you find a Thailand Sriracha chilli sauce manufacturer you like, you can take a few bottles of this in your suitcase with you, and you can also stock up on red chilli paste and ensure your cooking has some heat to it. You can put in your suitcase many different ones, so you will need to decide which ones you will buy. As such, you may wish to purchase the ones used in your favourite Thai foods.

Check The Rules With Your Embassy Before Buying

You may be able to take a wide variety of foods out of Thailand easily, but you will need to check that you can bring them into your home country. Most raw and uncooked meats you will not be able to bring with you and some fruits, such as Durian, which is banned on airplanes due to the smell. Check with your embassy on the restrictions applied to foods in your country, and you can hopefully ensure you have everything you need to cook your favourite Thai food when you get home.
